La Cocina's Program team is looking to add a kitchen associate for the 2948 Folsom Street facility. Your job will be to keep our kitchen - the heart of our program - running in top shape for the use of our 30 active users. You will also be part of intentionally cultivating our unique, multi-cultural kitchen community, providing culinary assistance, and supporting participants as they grow businesses out of the facility. You'll spend the majority of time in the kitchen and also be excited to provide insights, guidance, and culinary education to the entrepreneurs as they grow their businesses. You are energized by the thought of working in a kitchen full of businesses led by woman, leading teams of women and people of color from all over the globe. You are the kind of person who equally cares about cleaning the corners of a walk-in refrigerator and structural racism and can talk about it fluently in both English and Spanish (other languages a bonus!)
Director of Development and Communications
The Director of Development and Communications is a Full Time, exempt position. Hours are Monday through Friday with occasional night and weekend requirements. The position reports to the Executive Director.
Since 2005, La Cocina has worked with talented, working-class entrepreneurs to launch, grow and formalize food businesses. We currently have 53 graduate businesses and 36 businesses in our incubator. The Director of Development and Communications will manage all fundraising, friend-raising and communications for the organization. We're lean, but hungry, and the Director will work on high-level strategy as well as day-to-day communications.
Development and Communications Associate
The Communications and Development Associate is a Full Time, exempt position. Hours are Monday through Friday with occasional night and weekend requirements. The position reports to the Director of Development and Communications.
Our Communications and Development Associate provides the fundamental link between La Cocina and the rest of the world. It begins with learning and communicating internally with clients and staff and translating that to the general public through marketing efforts at events--culminating with successful fundraising for La Cocina. The mark of a successful person in this role is the love and respect of the general public for the work of La Cocina and to delight in the success of our alumni.
We are looking for a strong communicator with a passion for our mission and a commitment to hospitality - someone who can confidently write a grant proposal, sell a sponsorship off of a cold call to a corporation and then capture all of those moments in an Instagram story. Ultimately, this position is the perfect entry-level opportunity for someone who wants to make a living in social justice, equitable food economies and philanthropy.
Director of Earned Income
The Director of Earned Income is a Full Time, exempt position. Hours are Monday through Friday, with fairly frequent night and weekend requirements. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
This position joins La Cocina's team with existing revenue streams in place, and a burgeoning strategic plan that places an emphasis on the growth of those streams. The position begins with limited additional support, but has the opportunity to grow intentionally and quickly. The Director will manage a Retail Manager, Catering Accounts Manager, Catering Admin and partner with our Events team.
This position may include management of additional interns and volunteers on an as-needed basis. Additionally, the position is expected to be part of the collaborative visioning for the organization and considerate of revenue generation both for La Cocina and participating businesses and to have an eye, always, on funds development.
AR / AP Bookkeeper
The AR/AP Bookkeeper is a part time hourly position with approximately 20--30 hrs/week. It is an at-will position, supports the Office Manager and reports to the Operations Manager.
The position works off-site, remotely with a twice-weekly office presence for AP/AR material collection, checks and deposit processing
Support La Cocina's Office Manager with timely payment of bills, billing of clients, and AR management
Maintain consistent reconciliation records for La Cocina
